Corey Pessagno was born on Friday, December 23, 1994, in Easton, MD. He was a big baby boy compared to his older brother and so different too, as no two children are alike! At a young age, Corey loved to perform – from putting on Batman shows in our backyard to a teenager clearing the floor at his senior prom to do a back flip. Talk about a Kodak moment!
Corey was competitive in playing video games; he watched and talked with excitement about pro and college football, and thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with his brother and his friends! He had wonderful personal qualities as a son, brother, and friend and was a truly a kind soul. Corey could always tell if you were down, he wouldn’t let you deny it, and he would try to make you smile and feel better. He didn’t want to see you sad. We learned that he was a best friend to many people.
Corey fell in love in high school with Stephanie Ehatt, who was the light of his life! They would spend time at each other’s houses and when college separated them by hundred of miles, Corey would make visits to see her. As a token of her love for him, at his death, she presented us with a photo album of the two. This gift was so special and will be treasured because we had a hard time getting Corey to pose for any photos.
Corey really never wanted us to make a big deal over him. When his Dad cheered for him in the stands at his football games, Corey would look at him and shake his head “No”. Every time we think about Corey now, the wind blows and butterflies float through the air. Many times it’s been raining with hardly a cloud in the sky, and haven’t the rainbows been pretty! We have Corey’s vibrant spirit among us – forever - and for that, we are grateful.
Our hearts are broken and our lives will never be the same without Corey. It is our sincere and prayerful hope that through this educational website that young lives are saved and families are spared the agony of such a senseless tragedy.
